Linsky Named Chair of House Post Audit Committee, House Chair of Federal Stimulus Oversight Committee
Boston, MA -- State Representative David P. Linsky (D-Natick) announced today that House Speaker Robert A. DeLeo has appointed him as Chair of the House Committee on Post Audit and Oversight. As Chairman, Linsky will assume the responsibility of directing the Legislative Post Audit Bureau to perform investigations, examinations, audits, and general oversight per his request. Linsky has also been named as the House Chair of the Joint Committee on Federal Stimulus Oversight, which is a temporary standing committee created to oversee the $11.9 billion Massachusetts will receive through the Federal Economic Stimulus Package. Linsky, entering his sixth term in the Legislature, is looking forward to taking on the challenges and responsibilities that accompany his new position.
Linsky stated, “I am honored that Speaker DeLeo and the Democratic Caucus have entrusted me with the task of exercising legislative auditing powers, which I intend to do to the fullest extent. I am pleased that he found my strong investigative background from my years of experience as an Assistant District Attorney to be an asset to the Committee this session. I look forward to working with the Speaker and the Members to explore and investigate issues and areas of concern to my constituents and the Commonwealth at large. Furthermore, I am looking forward to playing a part in the oversight of the federal stimulus money. I am particularly wary of the legacy that the Big Dig left on our transportation system as a result of mismanagement and poor oversight. There is great need for us to make sure the money goes where it is intended to go this time around and that it fulfills its intended purpose, which is to create jobs and stimulate economic growth.”
Representative Linsky would also like to inform his constituents of his new office location. He is now located in Room 146 of the State House and his office can be reached by phone at (617) 722-2575 or by fax at (617) 722-2238.
