Sherborn Receives State Funds for Farm Pond Improvements, New Senior Center
BOSTON – State Representative David P. Linsky (D-Natick) announced today that the Legislature gave final passage to a number of comprehensive bond bills that include funding for projects in the town of Sherborn. Linsky worked closely with his colleagues in the House and on the House Committee on Ways and Means (of which he is a member) to earmark funding for Sherborn in the House version of the Environmental Bond and the General Government Bond Bills. These bills were put under the review of a Conference Committee, which is a group of members assigned to resolve differences between the House and Senate version of the bills. Linsky’s efforts led to the adoption of these earmarks in the final conference report.
The final Government Bond bill included an earmark of $100,000 for the design of a new senior center and the final Environmental Bond bill included an earmark of $150,000 for improvements to Farm Pond. “Sherborn has been long in need of a new senior center, and I was pleased to help secure funds so that the town can now realize this project,” said Linsky. “Additionally, Farm Pond is one of the most precious natural resources in my district. It is of the utmost importance that we give it proper funding so that it will remain one of the most pristine ponds in Eastern Massachusetts.”
The bond bills now sit before the Governor and await a signature.
