FRAMINGHAM -- A 24-year-old Framingham woman was found dead in her bed yesterday morning, stabbed more than 20 times, and a man she met in a bar the night before was arrested and charged with her murder, police said. Theresa M. Kelly was found dead by one of her two daughters at approximately 8 a.m. in the apartment on Beaver Park Road.Arthur T. Waters, 36, who had been living in homeless shelters around Framingham, was arrested by police last night at approximately 10:15 p.m. He was charged with murder and will be arraigned in Framingham District Court this morning.

Jill Reilly, spokeswoman for the Middlesex district attorney's office, said Kelly had meet Waters for the first time in a bar in Framingham Sunday night. Officials declined to name the bar.

Kelly was murdered with a small knife in the apartment she shared with the daughters, ages 6 and 3, and her mother, authorites said. An autopsy performed at UMass Medical Center in Worcester determined the cause of death to be multiple stab wounds, officials said..

Assistant District Attorney David Linsky said there were no signs of a forced entry into the apartment and "as far as we can tell Waters was there voluntarily."

"An intensive investigation all day by Framingham police, State Police and the Middlesex County DA's office found probable cause to arrest Mr. Waters," Linsky said.

Kelly's family had last seen her alive before they retired for bed on Sunday night, authorities said.
