More State Money for Millis Budget in FY2009

Boton Globe - March 2, 2008

The town's Beacon Hill delegation - state Senator Scott Brown and state Representatives David Linsky and Richard Ross - told selectmen last week that Millis will likely see a hefty increase in state aid next fiscal year. Governor Deval Patrick's budget numbers, released last month, showed more than an $800,000 increase for the town, and the legislators told selectmen that they should continue to use that figure in their spending plans. Even with the increase, Town Administrator Charles Aspinwall said, he is working to close a budget gap of around $210,000 before his March 12 meeting with the Finance Committee. The budget for the 2009 fiscal year, which begins July 1, will be around $23.2 million, Aspinwall said. - Calvin Hennick
