Farm Pond Money Approved
State Rep. David Linsky, D-Natick, has announced that the House and Senate have approved funds of $25,000 for the controlling of runoff into Farm Pond. The original amendment was sponsored by Linsky and adopted on Tuesday, April 25. The funds are contained in the state’s FY2008 budget that is now on the governor’s desk for approval.
“I’m pleased that the House displayed their commitment to the preservation of important environmental sites by recognizing the necessity for this funding,” Linsky said. “I know that these funds will help keep the pond beautiful.”
The Farm Pond funding will be used to remediate stormwater runoff from Lake Street, which has contributed to pollutants in the water. Town Administrator Dennis Luttrell stated, “The pond is one of the most pristine in eastern Massachusetts, and this will do a lot to help protect the pond in the future.”
Luttrell added, “The town is very pleased that we can partner with the commonwealth to protect our great pond.”
